The resort's infinity pool at sunset, looking out over pine-covered hills

Long afternoons in cool mountain water

The pool is the centre of the property from May to October: cool water, sunbeds in the shade of the pines, and the valley in front of you.

The pool

Cool water, 450 metres up

The pool sits on the flattest shelf of the land, with old pines standing over it on three sides. Because of the altitude the water stays genuinely cool, the kind of cool that makes an August afternoon bearable.

It is a guests-only pool, which in practice means there is almost always a free sunbed and you can swim a proper length without meeting anybody.

Around the water

Shade that moves with the sun

Sunbeds are spread along the deck rather than lined up in rows, so nobody is lying at somebody else's feet. Two are held for each bungalow, and there are low tables between them for coffee, books and everything else that accumulates over a day.

When the light drops behind the ridge, the lamps come on in the trees and the whole terrace turns into the best place on the property to spend the evening.
